Hope-Syndrome

It’s amazing (in a bad way) how we got here….

Here- Living on ‘hope’.

Against all odds,

and against all logic. Just Hoping!

Regardless of your abode in Nigeria

All holding down Hope right now.

Still able to get up in the morning

Get to do your part for your country.

Drop kids off at school,

hoping to be back to get them in one piece.

Opening our stores,

hoping to get through the day

without being hit by a stray or intentional bullet.

Still get on that road

Travel for that job,

to see a loved one,

or just for fun… even though you heard there was a nototrious kidnapping yesterday.

Still able to get up everyday

and say hey God

I’m grateful for my (own) life??? (Is that even a good thing)

Even though you’ve seen and heard worse…

Like your neighbor being butchered

and soldiers exterminated.

With all the scary stuff on the news,

We look forward to birthdays and anniversaries with joy.

We’ve got our work cut out for us,

And on some days, all we can do is

keep walking…..,

Even just for another day.

To get past the pandemic, vaccine setback, climate change, open grazing, Lekki toll gate,

Kagara, government dormancy,

recession, Leah Sharibu,

Terrorist-Teens, retarded ministers of info and culture,

fake news wars, religious hijacked brains, 3rd private jet purchases, sexual harassment norm,

minimum wage inefficacy,….

Goes on and on

With no light at the end of the forest reserves (our tunnels).

…………………………..

Here’s hoping that we get back to the times when parents only worried if their kid passes a test at school

And not if the school building will still be standing by 2 o’clock.

I wish us all hope, and a little extra….. strength. Hope, that it will all get better,

and the Strength, …..to hold on till it does.
